Module Summary
|
Quality Function Deployment (QFD) is a planning technology that focuses on what attracts or repels the customer, and methodically explores the relationships of:
- Quality characteristics,
- Functions,
- Parts, and
- Processes.
Ideally, QFD includes:
- A thorough exploration of what the competition has to offer (Product Benchmarking),
- A creative springboard to superior function at lower cost, by linking to Value Engineering.

Deliverables
|
This training is designed to prepare teams to:
- Effectively move the focus of a product or process design upstream, from part features or process steps, to the "customer wants."
- Relate customer wants to quality characteristics, benchmarks, functions, parts, and processes, by using a sophisticated matrix chart.
- Compare new designs to the "best-in-class." Assemble the resulting matrix charts into a basic "house of quality."
This course is for teams only, and at least 50% of class time will be devoted to real work on a real project.
