Blueprint Reading Basics

Module Summary

The ability to read engineering drawings and look up Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) symbols is required by today's industry.

Who Should Attend

Any employee that needs new or updated skills in reading blueprints.

Deliverables

Attendees will know how to:

  • Recognize a title block and all the information that can be found in it,
  • Explain the function of different types of notes,
  • Explain an orthographic projection,
  • Recognize the six possible views in a multi-view drawing,
  • Recognize an auxiliary view,
  • Recognize each type of line used on a basic print,
  • Recognize the different types of dimensioning,
  • Recognize the eight different types of sectioning,
  • Explain tolerancing and recognize the different types,
  • Recognize a geometric dimensioning and tolerancing symbol.
