Design of Experiments - Overview

Module Summary

Design of Experiments is an engineering tool used for optimizing the design of products and processes, and problem solving. The Taguchi approach emphasizes reduction of variation, and better targeting, for special characteristics. The classical approach emphasizes better understanding of the product or process by performing a series of small experiments sequentially.

Deliverables

Attendees will be able to:

  • Discuss the steps involved in performing a designed experiment,
  • Recognize some of the Tooling used by experimenters
  • Recognize Taguchi's contributions to the concepts of special characteristics, and robust design.
  • Recognize some of the differences between the classical and Taguchi approaches to designed experiments.

Who Should Attend

The course is recommended for people who need an awareness of how experiments are designed and interpreted, but do not need the level of skill required for direct participation.

Prerequisites

None

Program Length

4 hours - 1/2 day
