Field Balancing (Vibration)

Module Summary

This course is designed to train participants to perform field balancing on:

  1. Fans.
  2. Motors.
  3. Machine tool spindles.
  4. Centrifuges.
  5. Agitators.

Workshop demonstration units allow participants the opportunity to perform balancing procedures in a classroom environment. A final examination consists of a written test and graded workshop exercises.

Who should attend

Recommended for repair and service mechanics or technicians that participate in balancing rotating machinery. This course may also be applicable for engineers and supervisors that need hands-on experience in balancing.

Deliverables

This course prepares individuals to:

  • Perform single and 2-plane field balancing using balancing programs in data collectors, calculators, or laptop computers,
  • Diagnosis imbalance using frequency and phase angle parameters.
  • Address lock-out/tag-out procedures since direct physical contact with the rotating components is required.

Prerequisites

Successful completion of the "Basic Vibration" course or equivalent is a prerequisite for this course.
