Delegation Skills

Summary:

Delegation is a challenge for new supervisors, new managers, and experienced professionals alike. It often seems easier to do a task oneself rather than being certain that employees will do it the right way. Participants will learn what to delegate, when to delegate, to whom to delegate, and how to delegate. Participants learn to successfully reach personal and business objectives goals through the work of others, as well as developing employees through delegated tasks.

Supervisors, managers, and others who need to delegate responsibilities

Deliverables:

After completing this program participants will be able to:

  • Identify and overcome common obstacles to delegation
  • Assess strengths and development needs in delegating work to others
  • Differentiate between delegating for task completion and delegating to develop employee skills or teamwork
  • Recognize the important ingredients for successful delegation
  • Create and use a delegation plan
  • Prepare an action plan to apply learning in the workplace
