Introduction to Project Management

Module Summary

A project is a temporary endeavor undertaken to create a unique product, service or result.  Managing projects is different philosophically and fundamentally than managing a department, a manufacturing line, or a service center.  Since there is a fixed start and end point to the project, there are significant timing implications.  Project managers may not have direct control over their resources, so motivation and people skills become even more important.  This course will provide a basic understanding of the project life cycle, the project management process, and basic tools and techniques that can be implemented right away in a project environment.  It will also provide a foundation for learning about more advanced project management concepts and methods.
