Project Summary
|
Lean Construction:
- Is a dynamic new way to design and build capital facilities
- Changes the way work is done throughout the design, build and turnover delivery processes
- Is an "integrated approach" to managing speed and cost, which is more important than reducing the cost or increasing the speed of any activity.

Who Should Attend
|
Two types of teams work LeanC programs.
- A senior management guidance team comprised of senior managers representing design/engineering, purchasing, site management, and other key functional departments. After receiving a one-hour lean training session, this team sets the LeanC program scope, objectives, and members of the LeanC improvement team(s).
- One to many LeanC improvement teams comprised of site supervisors, leaders, and skilled trades. Each team of six to ten people will attend "on-site" workshops to learn and implement LeanC improvements.
Teams should schedule this course to coincide with the beginning of either the design phase or the construction phase.

Deliverables
|
LeanC provides training and on-the-job startup assistance through a series visual construction site workshops and training sessions. The workshops help transfer lean construction knowledge to construction professionals from design to field build. By maximizing value and minimizing waste via the application of specific techniques which we help develop, the following benefits result:
- The facility and its build process are designed together to better reveal and support customer purposes. Positive repetition of steps within the process is supported and negative repetition is reduced.
- Work is structured throughout the process to maximize value and to reduce waste at each step in the process, from design to building/facility turnover.
- LeanC is particularly useful on complex, uncertain, and quick projects. It challenges the belief that there must always be a trade off between time, cost, and quality.
This project is for teams only, 2/3 of class time is work on a real project.
